Finding Your DAO

The first thing you must do to partcipate in governance is navigate to the governance portal of the DAO you would like to partcipate in. In this example we will navigate to the Clarity governance portal by clicking the "Explore this DAO" button on the Crystal governance dashboard.

Connecting Your Wallet

Once you navigate to the DAOs governance portal you will need to connect your wallet. In order to connect your wallet you will first click the "Connect Wallet" button in the top right of the app.

After you click the "Connect Wallet" button a pop up will appear. You have to choose the wallet you would like to connect. Right now the Crystal platform supports Nami, Eternl, and Flint wallets. In this example we will connect a Nami wallet.

After clicking this button you will have to grant the Crystal Platform access to interact with your wallet. In order to do this you just have to click the "Access" button.

Viewing your Voting Power

Once you wallet is connected you will be able to see your voting power in the top right of the screen. Your voting power is based on the amount of governance token you hold within that DAO and the voting weights assigned to governance assets for that DAO. IMPORTANT: Voting power takes around an hour or so to update depending on the DAO.

Exploring Proposals

Once your wallet is connected you can use the governance portal to explore proposals happing within the projects governance portal.

Viewing Proposals

You can simply and quickly view a proposal by clicking the "View and Vote" button when exploring proposals.

Casting Your Vote

After opening up the proposal view by clicking the "View and Vote" button you are able to view details and deadlines involved with the proposal. In order to cast a vote with your voting power all you need to do is click the "Cast Vote" button and sign the transaction. Check out the screenshot below to see what that looks like.

IMPORTANT:

  1. Voting on the Crystal Platform is free.

  2. Currently, one can use your full voting power on as many options as you would like.

  3. A vote can be both casted and retracted by signing a transaction.

After you click "Cast Vote" you will be prompted to sign a free transaction by your wallet provider. Here is what is looks like on Nami.

To finalize your vote, you must provide you password for your wallet.

That's it!! You have casted your vote!! If you would like to retract your vote after it is casted, all you have to do is click the "Retract Vote" button and go through the same process.

Creating a Proposal Submission

For proposals in the "Accepting-Submissions" phase. Users are able to provide submissions to be voted on. It is important to keep in mind, the proposal creator can also make it so only admins can provide submissions to be voted on. If the submission are open to all DAO members this is how you provide a submission to be voted on.

In this example, a DAO is proposing to swap 20,000 DJED for a Cardano Altcoin and is allowing community members to suggest which altcoin should be invested in. In order to create a submission all one must do is click the "+ Add Submission" button, fill out the form, and sign the transaction. Follow these screenshots to see how it works.

After a user clicks the "+ Add Submission" button, they must fill out the for provided for submissions. The forms are custom made by the proposal creator. You can learn more in the DAO Admin Actions section.

After a user clicks the submit button they must sign a free transaction and their submission will be included to the live proposal.

Here you can see that the submission has been included to this proposal. Now the DAO has three options to vote from!
